Domus Alba is a spacious provencal house with large gardens, a private pool and tennis court located in the countryside near the village of Cheval Blanc at the western end of the Luberon Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty in southern Provence.
The house is in a tranquil location just a short drive from the town of Cavaillon and the nearby village of Cheval Blanc with a good boulangerie, small supermarket and newsagent. Ideally placed for exploring the Luberon valley and its delightful perched villages, this house is also well located for excursions further afield to Avignon, Orange, St. Remy, Arles and Nimes.
The House
Domus Alba is a large house with lots of space and light and airy rooms. Outside the beautifully kept gardens and large terraces provide lots of room for large groups of friends or family and the large private pool is a great place to relax with lovely views of the Luberon mountains. With lots of outdoor dining space, and terraces around three sides of the house, you can choose from sun or shade at all times of day.
The house is on two storey's with 4 bedrooms sleeping up to 8 people and additional accommodation for a further two people in a small gite to the side of the main house. Downstairs there is a spacious living/dining room with large dining table for convivial meals and a welcoming provencal fireplace. There are comfortable sofas for relaxing in the separate salon and a study fully equipped with printer/scanner/fax/copier and WiFi internet. The house has electric heaters for the cooler months. A television, DVD and CD player are provided for entertainment with an extensive film and music library. The master bedroom has a further television and DVD set.
The big dining kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, fridge freezer, electric oven, gas hob and microwave. There is a washing machine and clothes dryer plus additional freezer in the adjoining utility room. Also on the ground floor is a large family bathroom and separate wc.
The house sleeps up to 8 people in four bedrooms. On the first floor, the master bedroom has a standard double bed and en suite shower and a dressing area with spacious mirrored wardrobes. There are two further bedrooms, one of which has a south-facing balcony, each of which has zip-link beds (so can be made up as a king-size double or 2 singles), a family bathroom with jacuzzi bath and separate shower and WC, and additional WC. The second floor is a cosy attic conversion and has a double bed and sitting room.
The separate Studio is comfortably furnished but is self contained with its own shower room and kitchenette and sleeps two people in a double bed.
The house is south-facing with a shaded terrace to the East for breakfast, terracing to the South for spring and autumn alfresco lunches and an expansive terrace to the West for long lazy summer evenings. The large private free form pool is 145 sqm has a 'beach' (paved area), ample sun loungers and parasol for shade. The pool has a perimeter security alarm. The grounds, of almost 2 acres are beautifully maintained with lawns, trees and pretty shrubs . There is a shallow ornamental pond and a small stream, a tributary of the Carpentras canal runs through the garden.
There is ample private parking and a barbecue, and newly resurfaced professional tennis court for which rackets are provided. There is also table tennis table with equipment and a small fully equipped boule "court".
Bed linen and towels are provided, including pool towels, and also a cleaner for the end of your stay.
Domus Alba is a spacious provencal home in beautiful gardens with lots of outdoor living space and a lovely pool for a relaxing holiday, but also very well located for exploring the Luberon area and further afield.
