L'Ermitage is a large stone house located on the outskirts of the delightful village of Roussillon in the heart of the Parc Naturel du Luberon. In the village there are several cafes and restaurants, a boulangerie, butcher and green grocer. There also is a wide choice of shopping and restaurants in the nearby town of Apt which has one of the best of the area's provencal markets on Saturday mornings.
The house is in a peaceful countryside situation just 10 minutes walk from the village for your early morning croissant or evening aperitif. There is a panoramic south facing view from the house right across the Luberon valley to the mountains beyond, the ruined chateau of Lacoste, beautifully illuminated at night and the perched village of Bonnieux . The house is well located for exploring the Luberon valley or simply relaxing by the pool or in the large garden
The House
This large two storey house is very spacious. It has lovely old terracotta provencal tiled floors throughout and is decorated with warm colours and comfortable furnishings.
The wide welcoming entrance hall leads through to the south facing terrace with its superb views across the gardens to the Luberon mountains beyond. The spacious salon with its comfortable sofas and provencal fireplace is a lovely place to relax. There is a separate conservatory dining room and a well equipped kitchen with electric oven and gas hob, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave and coffee maker. There is a separate utility room with washing machine.
The house has three good size bedrooms, a large light and airy double bedroom on the ground floor with its own shower room and a separate wc, and on the first floor a pretty twin bedroom and a spacious double bedroom with lovely south facing views. There is a second bathroom with bath, shower and wc on the first floor. Both the bathrooms have recently been renovated to a high standard.
The study area in the upstairs hall has a broadband internet connection and there is a large cinema room with television (English channels only) and DVD player for entertainment.
The large enclosed garden is planted with olives, cypress trees, lavender and flowering shrubs and is very private. The 12 x 6 metre swimming pool is fenced for security and has plenty of sunbathing space for which pool loungers are provided, and a covered area providing welcome shade in the heat of the day. The spacious terrace has a gas BBQ and is ideal for outdoor dining under the shade of the plane tree enjoying the lovely countryside views during the day, and in the evening, the sparkling lights of the villages of Bonnieux and Lacoste perched on the Luberon mountainside beyond.
Bed linen and towels, including pool towels, are provided and also a cleaner for the end of your stay.
Please note bookings for a minimum of two weeks are preferred and note also that this house is not suitable for young children and pets are now allowed.
This very comfortable spacious house with gorgeous views and close proximity to the village with its shops and restaurants, provides a very relaxing base to stay and from which to explore this lovely area of Provence.
