La Maison Joy is a large stone house located near the village of Bonnieux in the heart of the Parc Naturel du Luberon. In the village there are several cafes and restaurants, a boulangerie, butcher, post office and small supermarket. There also is a wide choice of shopping and restaurants in the nearby town of Apt which has one of the best of the area's provencal markets on Saturday mornings.
The house is in a peaceful countryside situation with superb views right across the Luberon valley providing an amazing panorama including the perched village of Lacoste , beautifully illuminated at night, Gordes and Roussillon in the distance and on the far horizon the white topped Mont Ventoux. The house is well located for exploring the Luberon valley or simply relaxing by pool or in the large garden.
The House
This large two storey house was originally is very spacious and lovely light rooms, all enjoying lovely views across the garden and countryside beyond. It is decorated in a provencal style with warm colours throughout and comfortable furnishings.
The covered terrace by the entrance leads to a large hall divided into two small salons. From here you enter the very spacious living/dining room which opens out on to the terrace overlooking the pool and garden. There is a separate sitting room with fireplace, library and television. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with bathroom and separate toilet. There is a second twin bedroom on the ground floor and accessed by its own entrance to the side of the house. This bedroom is has an ensuite shower room and toilet.
The large kitchen which also opens on to the covered outdoor terrace, is fully equipped with oven, hob, fridge freezer and dishwasher. There is a separate laundry room with washing machine and ironing board.
Upstairs there is a twin bedroom with its own roof terrace and a double bedroom. Both rooms are very spacious and there is a large bathroom and separate toilet.
Outside, the house has a very large enclosed garden planted with olives, cypress trees, lavender and flowering shrubs and there is also a pretty lily pond. There are many lovely places to sit and enjoy the super view, or simply take a siesta. The swimming pool is fenced for security and has paving around the pool giving plenty of sunbathing space for which pool loungers are provided. The spacious outdoor terrace is ideal for outdoor dining and from here in the daytime you can enjoy the lovely countryside views and in the evening, the delightful village of Lacoste whose illuminated chateau twinkles across the valley.
Bed linen and towels are provided and also a cleaner for the end of your stay. Please bring your own towels for the pool There is a television for entertainment and the house has broadband wifi internet connection.
La Maison Joy is an extremely spacious house with the most superb view of the Luberon valley and provides a very relaxing base for a provencal holiday.
