The Luberon

 



Lagniappe is a pretty renovated stone house located in the peaceful hamlet of Perrotet near Roussillon in the countryside of the Luberon Valley , an area of outstanding natural beauty in southern Provence. Roussillon is a renowned perched village in the Luberon famous for its red ochre cliffs and some of the houses in Perrotet are painted in the reds, oranges and yellow ochre colours typical of the area.

The house is in a tranquil location just a short drive to the nearby town of Apt , a few minutes drive from Roussillon and the nearby village of Gargas which has a good boulangerie, small supermarket, post office etc. All the lovely perched villages of the Luberon valley are on your doorstep and further afield within easy driving distance are day and half day excursions to Avignon , Orange , St. Remy and Arles. The house is well located for exploring the Luberon valley and surrounding area or simply relaxing on the large terraces or in the peaceful garden by the pool.


The House

Lagniappe is a charming 200 year old village house, sympathetically renovated and full of character with exposed beams and vaulted ceilings plus the benefit of its own private pool in a tranquil garden. The rooms are light and airy and there are two lovely large terraces with views of Mont Ventoux and the Luberon mountains, ideal for eating out at all times of the day.

The house is on two storeys with 3 bedrooms plus an occasional fourth bedroom and sleeps up to 8 people. Furnished and decorated in pretty provencal style, Lagniappe has a welcoming and comfortable ambience. The ground floor has an open plan layout with a large living/dining room opening directly onto the lower terrace overlooking the garden and pool. There are comfortable sofas for relaxing and a large dining table for convivial meals. There is a cosy log burning provencal fireplace and electric heaters for the cooler months. A television (French channels), DVD and CD player are provided for entertainment.

The recently renovated kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, fridge freezer, electric oven, gas hob and miocrowave. There is a washing machine and ironing board downstairs in the laundry room.

The house sleeps up to 8 people. There is a double bedroom on the ground floor with its own en suite shower room. There is a separate wc on this floor. On the second floor are a twin bedroom and a double bedroom which opens out on to the large upstairs terrace with lovely views. The fourth bedroom is a sitting room/occasional bedroom with a comfortable folding double bed. There is a bathroom and a shower room with wc on the second floor.

The two large terraces overlook the garden and provide lots of outdoor living space. The peaceful garden is planted with roses and fruit trees and has an 8x4 metre private pool. Sun loungers and a parasol are provided for relaxing. There is a charcoal BBQ and a downstairs wc in the laundry area. The pool has a cover for security. There are plenty of opportunities for walks direct from the house in the countryside around the hamlet.

Bed linen and towels are provided, including pool towels, and also a cleaner for the end of your stay.

Booking Conditions & Rental Cost 2010

The rent includes all services except heating for the months of October to April inclusive. Firewood is provided for the open fireplace. A cleaning lady is provided for the end of your stay. Additional cleaning can be arranged if required for an extra charge. .

We ask for half the rent at the time of booking and the balance six weeks before the start of your holiday. If booking is within 6 weeks of arrival we require full payment at the time of booking. A damages deposit of £500 is payable by separate cheque at time of final payment. This is refunded after your departure once the house has been checked. Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday. In order to clean and check the house we ask guests to arrive after 16.00 p.m. and to leave by 10.00 a.m. on the day of departure.

In case of cancellation, the reservation deposit will be retained, unless we can re-let, or the whole payment if six weeks or less before the start of your intended stay. If we can re-let our additional expenditure, including advertising, will be deducted and the rest of your payment returned to you. We would therefore strongly advise you to take out holiday insurance which covers cancellation. This is widely available, for example from airlines, ferry companies, and the AA.
