La Maison du Grand Clos is a spacious single storey villa located 4km just outside the pretty village of Fontvieille in the Alpilles. Fontvieille is a lively village several cafes and restaurants and everything you need for everyday shopping. There is a wide choice of shopping in the nearby town of Arles which has an excellent provencal market on Saturday mornings.
The house is in a tranquil location well located for exploring the Alpilles countryside and villages and the fascinating medieval and Roman town of Arles, or simply relaxing by the pool in the large garden. The medieval citadel village of Les Baux and the charming market town of St. Remy are also just a short drive away.
The House
The house is simply but comfortably furnished and is very light and airy with large floor to ceiling windows opening out onto the terrace and garden. There is a large living dining room with fireplace for the cooler months. Additional heating is provided by electric radiators and an air conditioning system in the living room. The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, oven and hob. There is a separate laundry room with washing machine.
One double bedroom leads off the living room and has its own shower room and toilet. This room also has its own terrace at the rear of the house. There are a further three bedrooms, one twin and two double and a large family bathroom with bath and shower, with separate toilet. Two of these rooms overlook the garden and pool, the third looks over the garden at the side of the house. There is an air conditioning unit in one of the bedrooms which provides additional heating in the cooler months, or cool air for the whole of the bedroom area of the house in the heat of the summer.
Outside, the large private garden provides a welcome space for relaxing. The 10x5 metre swimming pool has an in-pool alarm for security. Sun loungers are provided together with a dining table and chairs for outdoor dining.
Bed linen and towels, but not pool towels, are provided and also a cleaner for the end of your stay. is a television for entertainment (one or two English channels). The house has a television and DVD player for entertainment and there is a wifi broadband internet connection.
