The house is situated in the countryside on the edge of the small hamlet of Pourraque near the village of St. Saturnin d'Apt in the heart of the Luberon valley. The village nestles into the side of the Vaucluse hills with beautiful views from the windmill and ruined chateau across the whole of the Luberon valley.

St. Saturnin has everything for your everyday needs with two good bakers, a butcher and a small supermarket, a doctor and pharmacy, a news agent, shops selling locally produced olive oil and wine plus restaurants and café bars


The House

La Maison Rouge is a spacious and comfortable provencal house in a peaceful location in the countryside above the hamlet. The house is completely south facing and has magnificent views from the terraces right across the Luberon valley and to the Luberon mountains beyond. The house is furnished in provencal style, has many interesting features and beautiful warm terracotta floors throughout. There is a well equipped kitchen with fridge, freezer,electric oven & hob, microwave, dishwasher and separate washing machine. The large and airy living room has a comfortable seating area and an open fireplace and this room, together with the dining room leads out on to the south facing terrace at the front of the house where there is a covered area for outdoor dining. Three of the bedrooms are on ground floor and also open out directly onto the terrace. On the first floor are two further bedrooms, one of which has a roof terrace, again with superb views. The house has a CD Hifi, DVD and television (French channels only) for entertainment.

There are five bedrooms and two bath/shower rooms. There are three separate toilets, two on the ground floor. On the ground floor, the three bedrooms comprise one double room and two singles. These bedrooms share a shower room and separate toilet. On the first floor there are two bedrooms, one double with terrace and a pretty twin with double aspect windows. These bedrooms share a large family bathroom with bath and in-bath hand held shower. Upstairs there is also a separate little roof terrace at the rear of the house - perfect for star gazing on warm summer nights.

The garden slopes gently down the hillside with grassy seating areas and plenty of shady spots for lounging under the trees. The large 12mx5m swimming pool is on a terrace to the side of the house and here there is also a separate dining space under the trees. The pool itself faces due south and enjoys the same lovely views as the house. The pool is alarmed for security and there is a pool shower and loungers for sunbathing.

Bed linen and towels are provided together with a cleaning service at the end of your stay.

Please note that rentals for a minimum of two weeks only are accepted at this house.

The rent includes all services except the cost of telephone calls and heating in the cooler months. Cleaning at the end of your stay is included in the rental cost.

We ask for half the rent at the time of booking and the balance six weeks before the start of your holiday. If booking is within 6 weeks of arrival we require full payment at the time of booking. We also require a £500 deposit against damages as a separate cheque which should be sent at the time of making your final payment. Any breakages or damage will be made against the deposit, together with the cost of telephone calls made during your stay, and the balance returned to you. Bookings are from Saturday to Saturday. In order to clean and check the house we ask guests to arrive between after 5 p.m. and to leave before 10.00 a.m. on the day of departure.

In case of cancellation, the reservation deposit will be retained unless we can re-let or the whole payment if six weeks or less before the start of your intended stay. If we can re-let our additional expenditure, including advertising, will be deducted and the rest returned to you. We would therefore strongly advise you to take out holiday insurance which covers cancellation. This is widely available, for example from airlines, ferry companies, and the AA.
