Le Mas a Four is wonderful 200 year old stone house in a tiny hamlet surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and orchards just a few minutes drive from the village of Gordes, one of the famous and beautiful perched villages of the area. There is local shopping at nearby Gordes and the hamlet of Coustellet just a few minutes drive away has an excellent market of local producers every Sunday morning from April to November. Good Cotes de Ventoux and Cotes du Luberon wine can be bought direct from the growers at several of the excellent vineyards in the area and there are many good restaurants for eating out.
The House
The house, part of which includes an old bakers oven, has been completely renovated by architects and has three bedrooms and three bathrooms ensuite. The house has been decorated and furnished in a truly luxurious style with beautiful furniture and fabrics and the wonderful cook's kitchen with open fireplace for grills simply inspires gourmet cooking.
The house is on two levels with beautiful old stone and terracotta tiled floors throughout. A particular feature is a lovely upstairs dining room with views across the courtyard and old roofs of the hamlet to the Luberon hills beyond. The large living room has an open fireplace and leading off this room is a library mezzanine. The house is completely equipped with all the modern conveniences including washer/dryer, dishwasher/ microwave, CD hifi, satellite TV (English and French channels) and broadband internet connection. The large fireplace is fully functioning and there are electric heaters for the cooler months.
All three bedrooms are doubles, are extremely comfortable and are furnished with beautiful linens. The cosy downstairs bedroom has an ensuite shower room and the two upstairs bedrooms both have ensuite bathrooms. The large kitchen opens at the rear of the house onto a delightful enclosed courtyard garden prettily planted to provide a cool respite in the heat of the day with a cooling fountain and covered eating area together with a BBQ.
The lovely architect designed garden is adjacent to the house and accessed accross a small lane just a few paces from the rear courtyard gate. It has a large swimming pool and there are plenty of pleasant sitting out and sunbathing areas, chairs and tables are provided for outdoor eating. The pool and garden are exclusively for the use of clients to the Mas a Four.
Bed linen , table linen and towels are all supplied and also a cleaning service for the end of your stay.
This is truly exquisite property authentically restored to an elegantly furnished and delightful Provençal home and comfortably accommodates 6 people. Please note bookings for a minimum of two weeks are preferred and note also that this house is not suitable for children under twelve. Pets are not allowed.
Whilst this house sleeps 6 people, if you happen to have a larger party of 8 to 12 or would like extra accommodation for guests, the next door house the Mas des Romarins has two bedrooms and its own pool. The combination of the two properties together provides comfortable accommodation for up to 10 people. The Maison de Marie-Thérèse is also just a few doors away and could provide accomadation for two extra people.
