Les Romarins is a charming cottage in a tiny hamlet surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and orchards just a few minutes drive from the village of Gordes, one of the famous and beautiful perched villages of the area. There is local shopping at nearby Gordes and the hamlet of Coustellet just a few minutes drive away has an excellent market of local producers every Sunday morning from April to November. Good Cotes de Ventoux and Cotes du Luberon wine can be bought direct from the growers at several of the excellent vineyards in the area and there are many good restaurants for eating out.
Further afield, the attractions of Avignon, Aix, St. Remy, Nimes, Orange and Arles are all within easy exploring distance.
If you visit the area in July or August and all you wish to do is laze in or around the pool, this is a lovely place to do just that but other times of the year are just as beautiful. Springtime is delightful with the cherry orchards in full bloom, the lavender fields look beautiful in June and early July and in October the "vendage" begins. This area is renowned for its sunshine days and blue skies all year round.
The House
Les Romarins is a pretty provencal cottage which has been tastefully restored and furnished. It has two bedrooms, one double (queen size bed) with shower, bath and toilet en suite and one twin bedded room. There is a separate shower room and toilet. The house is all on one level with all rooms opening out through French doors directly onto the garden. The fully equipped country style kitchen includes dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, large dining table and exposed bean ceiling. There are lovely terracotta tiled floors throughout. The house has a comfortable living room with a television (English and French channels), DVD player and CD Hifi with I-pod dock. A WiFi internet connection is also provided for your use. There are electric heaters for the cooler months.
The house faces south and the garden has a charming vine covered terrace, barbeque and pool with views across to the Luberon hills beyond. Outdoor furniture and pool loungers are provided and the pool is completely private, and exclusively for the use of Les Romarins guests. The pool is accessed directly from the terrace immediately outside the house and for this reason Les Romarins is unsuitable for families with children under 5 years of age. In our experience swimming in April is only for the very hardy and thus, subject to demand, we operate the pool from May to September.
There is private parking in the garden.
Bed linen , table linen and towels (including pool towels) are all supplied together with a cleaning service at the end of your stay.
This is truly charming property in a delightful and peaceful old hamlet.
