The cottage is situated just a few minutes drive from the centre of St. Remy, a delightful old market town in the heart of the Alpilles area of Provence. The lovely old town centre has pretty streets, delightful shops and quiet squares and the lively boulevard surrounding the centre offers a great choice of lively cafes and restaurants. The whole area is rich in history. The ancient Roman town of 'Glanum', the St. Paul Mausoleum from where Van Gogh produced many of his paintings of the region, and the beautiful Alpilles mountains are a short drive away. Pine forests, olive groves and vineyards provide the quintessential provencal landscape. The historic cities of Avignon, Arles, Nimes and Aix en Provence are within easy exploring distance. The UNESCO world heritage site of the Pont du Gard, the perched villages of the Parc Naturel du Luberon and the Camargue are also very close as is the Mediterranean sea - within an hours drive. There is also range of sports and activities available in the area including walking, golf, tennis and horse riding.
The House
Villa Micoulari is a part of a traditional house situated in a quiet location on the outskirts of the town with a south facing garden and its own pool. The cottage is completely independent of the main house. There is private off street parking.
The entrance to the cottage is from the outdoor terrace into a large dining kitchen which is equipped with fridge freezer, dishwasher, small electric oven and gas hob. The comfortable salon with large stone fireplace adjoins the kitchen and has comfy settees for relaxing and a TV for entertainment, (French channels). Upstairs there are two bedrooms with warm wood floors. The bedrooms comprise one double and one twin. There is a shower room with wc.
The pretty garden is planted with lawns, flowering shrubs and large trees giving cooling shade in the heat of the day. The 11 x 5 metre swimming pool is solely for the use of the guests of the cottage and loungers are provided. The pool is fenced for security. The large terrace at the front of the house provides a pleasant outside dining area in the dappled shade of the trees and has a wood fired bbq for which wood is provided. The house has broadband internet WiFi connection for guests use.
Bedlinen and towels are provided (except pool towels).
The Villa Micoulari is a comfortable cottage in a quiet location just a few minutes drive from charming St. Remy. A pleasant place to relax or use as a base to explore the olive growing area of the Alpilles.
